Thanks hd3, I've already checked there, don't have a bolt there (one of the previous owners lost it) there is some rubbing from when it was there but definitely no hole.
check under where the intercooler hose be close to a bolt head ..
it can rub 'n cause a small hole / split ..
see orange arrow / text in attached pic.
best to add some protection there in anycase ..

Just a little update, replace MAF with new one now and it's miles better. Still a little smoke and the turbo whistle seems to be a little louder. So thinking might be a very small hole somewhere along the turbo hoses or maybe the clamps aren't...
… used it to take Bree for a nice walk through the fields at ‘early o’clock’ today, when the dew is still about, but no bugger else!
She loved it, and the FL didn’t breakdown there or back again, so a good morning.

Not busted, just despite the insistence of my beautiful assistant it wasn't fastened at all. Opened it again and it was hovering in front of the manifold, luckily with the fastener still wrapped around it.
Tightened it up myself this time and...
Similar "on the ground" applies to wheelnuts (until I got my DeWalt) !! I've always laughed at people that jack the car first & then try to loosen them with the usual car wheel wrench.
