Hi, IMO if you want new the VW one would not be cheaper at all than this https://twinwoods4x4.co.uk/product/td5-glow-plug-manifold-upgrade/ if you want to go a bit cheaper you can find individual wires to fit the plugs like this...
Hi,
The original connections are very brittle and fragile, as we all know. I was watching this video the other day and the man is talking about a replacement rail from VW group that also fits on the Td5, but I don't know where I could source one...
It came out a few days ago, now waiting for the new one. I couldn't find a proper bolt to fit the thread of the head bolts at the local shop, so I had to use the head bolts with many many nuts stacked on them. To clear the engine bay, both front...
Thanks, I just thought of the head bolts last night. I will do it this way. The engine crane also has another thing - don't know what it's called - that lets you adjust the inclination of whatever you are lifting by moving the centre of gravity.
Hi,
On my TD5 D2 the cylinder head is already removed and I want to take the whole block out to fit a new whole engine in. What are the best spots to jack it up? Or should I just fit the old cylinder head back on and use the usual bolts for...

Yesterday the key stopped working in the door lock. The FOB will lock/unlock the car, but the key itself just spins in the lock barrel without locking or unlocking. This is a problem in case the battery would run flat, as...
I found this in the sump when I took it off for a reseal alongside a socket. Maybe anyone knows if it's something from the engine or some random piece of rubbish? It looks as if it's been flattened. Many thanks
Top tip of the day is find the sticker under the bonnet marked as a percentage, remove said sticker then tester has to test car for an average turbo diesel which is twice as high as the under bonnet sticker says!
Much like this cough cough!
Glad I ordered two of those seals for one corner.
Allmakes brand, did not measure them, and they were the only ones avail I could get in time for this weekend.
And, well, the seller did not say on their website what brand they were.
I used a...
Well, one bloke said, 'I haven't seen one that clean in many years' and another said, 'I had Disco one back in the 90's awesome vehicles' he asked if he could sit in it.
Along the lines of? :D
I was driving my 300tdi in town last year and some teenager dropped his cigarette and said its a fecking cool car. I think it just looks like a wreck though
Took the sump off for a reseal as it was leaking like a cow. Found an 8mm socket (not mine!) and this metal piece, which I was wondering if anyone knows whether it looks like something out of a 300tdi or just some rubbish.
I use Philips Racing Vision GT200, which are slightly brighter than the Night Breaker + 150, but seem to last about twice as long. My current set have been in for over 12 months. Night Breakers last me about 6 months before failing, so the...
Land Rover owners deleting the extra options on their cars as they just cause more problems. If I am to ever get a Discovery again, it will only be for a very very basic, no option model :vb-disagree:
Mine were leaking too, so I ripped them out - got some .8mm mild sheet; cut to oversize with around 30-40 holes and drilled / riveted to the body with non setting sealant.
Going to fibreglass the seems later, sand and paint the whole motor.
I don't know where OP is from, but the problem is that in some countries additional lights can be illegal, like the spots and LED bar in my profile picture. When you have to rely only on the Discovery headlights, I guess those expensive bulbs can...
The trade off is better light output for shorter life, all brands will be similar.
I've had a pair of those Nightbreaker Laser +150% for 3.5 years, and a pair of the Nightbreaker Ultimate +200% for 2.5 years without issue though, so it's not...
I am a D2 owner and I have loved it from the day I bought it 15years ago. I wouldn’t drive to Japan in it. If it had a 200/300tdi and less electronic tat, I would drive it to the end of the earth.
It had absolutely nothing to do with reliability which is purely a rumour touted by 300tdi owners who didn't want to move with the times as they were frightened of electronic engine management systems. The only reason the Army continued with the...
I ended up paying somebody to rectify down 0.5mm from the shafts after half a dozen of seals failed one after another, genuine LR, Corteco, OEM, NAK included... then fitted the last pair i had some aftermarkets(iirc Allmakes) which are still...
