l've spoken with my accountant and it's not straightforward.
The figures don't work very well for this exchange. lf l sell the new Defender Commercial now (it's worth around £46,000) l will get a tax bill of around £10,000. As it's owned by my...
l assume it was taken over to France when new, and then given the French equivalent of an MOT every year.
And then it had its first U.K. MOT when it was brought back to the U.K.
l have to say l am not a great fan of the Ford TDCi engine, had one in a Transit some years ago.
The economy was poor, and it never really ran perfectly.
However it was still going at 100,000 miles so not all bad.
lt's lived in France at a chateau and been serviced annually despite the low mileage.
Over 1,000 of the mileage was just driving it to France when it was new, and back again on sale.
l haven't actually viewed the vehicle, the seller is right...
Well, no but it seems to be the price you have to pay for the lowest mileage late model Defenders.
For one with 70-100,000 miles the price is around £20,000
For sale, very low mileage looks almost new.
Apparently has lived in France, owned by multi millionaire who kept it at his chalet.
l am interested as it looks so nice, but don't have much experience with the Ford engine version.
l've only ever...
My local LR specialist regularly rebuild these ABS modulators so it certainly can be done.
They recommend making the ABS trigger every few weeks as apparently it rarely does in normal Defender TD5 driving.
Brake hard on gravel, grass etc. Stops...
Hi - had the same issue and did the same thing. rusted out ball bearing, a seized motor and possibly seized plungers that the bearing would have operated. Turns out the mystery bearing is - get this - identical dimensions to a skateboard wheel...
No CAT as standard until the 15p engine (if yours has the updated dash it's probably a 15p)
lt's not really a CAT more a particulate filter. My 2005 sailed through the MOT every year with the pre-2002 front down pipe (no CAT)
l tried a new CAT...

WHAT IF ANYTHING DO I MISS ABOUT MY OLD DEFENDER?
Now l was thinking about this tonight while listening to my missus playing in a swing band.
l was reading about a woman who was a Leprosy Doctor in Vietnam in early 1962, and she...
MAY UPDATE, NEW DEFENDER
Well, the new Defender is still performing without issues.
Mileage is now 12,000. l still find myself looking at late model Puma 110XS for sale while sat in the bath, but at the moment l am sticking with the new one...
I imagine that a lot are bought/rented because its the latest fashion accessory, three years time they will move onto the next fashion accessory.
Anyway it interesting to see your insight compared to your previous Defender.
I’ve done close on 6000 miles since getting my 110.
Got some bigger tyres with smaller rims on it, oh and I’ve fitted the lucky 8 winch mount. I prefer the discreet look of the winch compared to the plastic bulbar on land rovers
Well, £40k minus what you could sell the Defender for at the end of it....likely around £15-20k if looked after.
Still cheaper obviously to keep your old Disco. l thought long and hard before selling my 2005 Defender and buying the new one but...
The figures don't have to be that bad.
Under £40k for mine after l put it through my business.
While it won't hold its value like an old Defender, looking for example at the Discovery 4 values it will probably still be worth £20,000 in 10 years...
That must be the best series 3 in the world.
But £40,000 for a Defender Hard Top, can they really be worth that much? Wow.
lf you bought it you'd have to store it in a barn and only take it to shows, or you'd wipe £25,000 off the value after a...
After ten months is there no contact at all from them about your Range Rover? Can you go to the premises to have a look around. What was the last communication you had, and how long ago.
What happens if you call them on the phone number?
I very much doubt ULEZ will be scrapped. There's a small chance the proposed expansion will be canned, but l will be surprised if that happens.
Whoever says they are going to do it will certainly get a load of votes. But once in power they've...
Put it on Ebay as an auction with a reserve (the lowest you'll take for it) and see what happens.
You never know, there may be someone who wants one like this and it will sell.
If not, you've lost nothing except Ebay's listing fee.
Prices have fallen generally for Land Rovers round here. There's a lovely TDCi 110 XS Utility for sale locally at £21,000
Last year that would have been in the high 20's.
The problem is the LEZ. In Sheffield it would cost you £10 every time you...
l've been watching (and sometimes bidding!) on Ebay mainly for TDCi 110's
Most remain unsold as they seem to have high reserve prices. lt may be due to some dealers still advertising them at high prices, making people think theirs is worth...
I think that's always been the case with any "classic" vehicle.
People in the concourse classic vehicle world get finicky about the correct screw heads and even the orientation of the screw.
