I've had a broken synchro spring give me grief like this, but lots of wiggling of the lever let it fall free. I didn't know what caused it at the time, but all became clear on the next oil change.

Sygic taught me that if there's a hint of slowing on the clockwise M25, come off at J14, straight over the roundabout and rejoin. It's hilarious. (Stay left for as long as you dare before the M4).

Map updates are 'free' on a 'phone too. (I paid for Sygic, so technically its free updates aren't completely free).

If there are any popping/coughing noises, check for air leaks. If not, it might be worth checking the float bowl for water.

I use these ball/magnet things in all my cars, but the snag is that the double-sided tape under the base is never quite good enough and you need to use the outdoor stuff from (I think) EvoStik's...

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but those two seals that go under the bent tabs over the selector ball/springs are generally about a million years old when you buy them - and were the biggest leak on my current gbox. The heater hose is nice and squidgy and I don't even get mist around them.

Sorry, I skim read and thought the clutch had been changed.
If nothing's obvious when you look underneath, jack up one side, spin wheels in neutral to get the the propshafts and transfer box, handbrake drum etc all turning. Filing that, jack it all up and run through the gears.
